Nail Technician Exam

Applicants must be licensed to work in all states of US.
Applicant must be at least 16 years of age. Some states may require attainment of 18 years of age. Applicant must have cleared at least an Eighth Grade Exam or must be a High School Graduate.

There are two exams conducted to assess the candidate's competence in nail care, one is a written exam and the other is a practical exam.
Both the Written and the Practical Exams currently cost $15 each.
The exams are administered by SMT Inc at their test centers across the United States.
Online practice exams are available at the NIC website.

The written exam is 90 minutes.
The practical exam is 100 minutes

The written test is in multiple choice format.
For the practical exam, candidates are expected to bring their own sanitized kit.
The candidates can either use a live model or a mannequin hand as the subject for their practical questions depending on the policy of the state in which they appear for the exam.
Written instructions are delivered for assessment in the practical examination.
The test questions are designed to practically assess the candidate's required basic practical knowledge and skills in the specialty.
